Overview
The Canyon Space Team has defined its goal as developing a team
with the right skills, financing, and organization to pursue low
cost, private, human access to space (sub-orbital, semi-ballistic
flight). We have decided upon a ladder like path to achieving
this goal. This ladder consists of advancing our level of technology,
and understanding and experience with that level of technology,
in small increments. An easy way to accomplish this is by setting
up projects within the team that have fairly narrow and specific
goals.
We have set up different teams that are given
charge over various projects, with each team having a team lead
that mainly serves as a point of contact for that team. Each of
the teams is generally referred to by an acronym, the purpose
of this is to make differentiating between team somewhat easier.
Here is a list, with links to the brief explanation of that team,
for the uninitiated of the acronyms and what the actual program
name is:.
S4V
The SuperSonic Sub Scale Vehicle Team is responsible for building
an approximately 1/6 scale vehicle of the X-Prize Vehicle (XPV)
to validate the high speed aerodynamics and control system for
the XPV. Vehicle configuration and preliminary design are currently
being done for this vehicle. A page devoted to this project is
currently under construction.
Testing
The CST, in order to establish a safe record and gather data,
static tests all its rocket engines and sometimes other equipment.
Complete records are gathered, and the information gained is used
improve our technology and procedures. Our testing is extremely
controlled and rigorously monitored for safety, thus, at most
tests, spectators are not encouraged. We do encourage those who
are seriously interested in becoming a part of the team to contact
us about attending some tests in order to gain a better understanding
of the team. If you are interested in becoming a member and would
like to view some of our testing, please see the Membership page
for more information. If you would like to see some of the pictures,
gathered data and other information from recent tests, please
see the Testing and News
pages for links to the various test pages.
Meetings
The Canyon Space Team has regularly scheduled meetings that are
open to the public once a month. These meetings are announced
in the newsletter. For a map and directions to the meetings, please
see the Meetings page by clicking

Public appearances: Airshows, Conventions,
etc...
The Canyon Space Team is on display at many local airshows and aviation
& engineering conventions. Some local gathering that we have
been on display at include: the National Engineer's Week Exposition
at the Seattle Center (2 years running, usually in March or February),
the
Arlington Airshow
at Arlington Airport (early July) and the Space Symposium at the
Museum of Flight (late November).
